Open House and Public Forum Scheduled For Trinity Uptown / Central City Project
July 26 and 27, 4:00 – 8:00 pm, Downtown Fort Worth YWCA
FORT WORTH, Texas – Sponsors of the Trinity River Vision will hold an informational open house along with a public input meeting on Tuesday and Wednesday, July 26 and 27, 2005. The event will be held at the YWCA in downtown Fort Worth, 512 West 4th Street, beginning at 4 p.m. each day.
Informational kiosks will be staffed from 4:00 – 7:00 pm to answer questions about the Trinity River Vision, the Central City Project, and the proposed Trinity Uptown. Representatives from the City of Fort Worth, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Tarrant Regional Water District, and Streams and Valleys, Inc., will be on hand to explain the Trinity River Vision, along with key consultants overseeing engineering, urban design, and property acquisition and relocation. These three-hour interactive sessions will include information on all aspects of the proposed development north of downtown Fort Worth, including infrastructure, flood protection, environmental issues, cultural and historic aspects, recreational opportunities, and funding.
At 7 p.m., a public meeting will convene where interested citizens may give input to the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers on the draft Environmental Impact Statement recently released about the Central City Project. Colonel John R. Minahan, district engineer with the Corps’ Fort Worth District, will officiate. Input will be time-restricted based on the number of people wishing to speak. A court reporter will be present to accurately record and transcribe all input given, which will be considered before making a final Record of Decision about the viability of the project.
While the Corps will evaluate all comments made at the public meeting, equal weight will be given to comments mailed, faxed or e-mailed by August 8, 2005, for persons not able to attend the public meeting. Such comments should be mailed or delivered to Dr. Rebecca Griffith, CESWF-PER-P, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Fort Worth District, P.O. Box 17300, 819 Taylor Street, Fort Worth, TX 76102-0300; faxed to 817-886-6498; or e-mailed to rebecca.s.griffith@swf02.usace.army.mil.
Interested parties may review the Corps’ draft EIS of the Central City Project at http://www.swf.usace.army.mil/. An exhibit with details about the Trinity Uptown development will be on display at the Fort Worth Community Arts Center until July 8; it will move and reopen at the downtown public library on July 15.
